Tips for Baking Perfect Cookies
It is virtually impossible to bake perfect, sweet, and crispy cookies as a beginning baker. However, if you have the slightest mastery of the best baking practices and learn a few tips and tricks on how to take your baking game to another level, you can gradually become an expert baker with enough practice. In this article, we’ve compiled a few tips, tricks, and ideas to help you improve your next batch of cookies.
Oven, butter, and egg temperature
Obtaining the right baking temperature in the oven may mean the difference when baking cookies. Without a calibrated oven, bakers can easily set an inaccurate temperature. That may result in underbaking, over-browning, and excess spread. The butter, eggs (especially egg whites), and other ingredients should be maintained at room temperature for the dough to achieve a uniform texture. Hence, gather all the ingredients one hour before you start baking to bring them to room temperature.
Refrigerating the dough
The decision to refrigerate the cookies dough depends on how you’ve mixed the dough. Chilling only works for sticky, wet, and greasy dough. Refrigeration helps to prevent the dough from spreading over the pan puddles and allows the flavors to blend potently. Chill the dough overnight, then remove it and let it sit at room temperature before you roll it for baking. Using refrigerated dough makes the cookies achieve the perfect thickness, solidity, and sturdiness.
Line the pan using silicone paper
Lining the baking sheets with silicone sheets or parchment paper is easy, and it’s the best way to prevent the dough from excess spreading. The role of the silicone lining is to insulate the cookies from direct heat from the baking pan. With the lining sheets, the base of the bake up smoothly achieve a golden color and slide off the paper easily.
Cool hot cookies on a rack
If you leave baked up cookies on a hot baking pan, they continue to bake, and their bases can blacken. Cooling the cookies on a rack exposes all their sides to air, preventing them from becoming soggy. Make sure the rack stands at least ½ inches above the counter to ensure enough circulation underneath the batch.
