Welcome to Mommyhood Life!
Mommyhood Life is a Fun Mom’s Guide to creating unforgettable family memories. Our goal is to inspire moms to spend intentional time with their families having fun.
Mommyhood Life features kid-approved recipes, family-friendly travel ideas, must-see Florida attractions, and tips to help make motherhood a little easier.
I am excited that you found our little corner of the internet!
I’m Katrina, the author of Mommyhood Life
I’m a mother to 3 children who always keep me on my toes and on the go, and a Bostonian who packed up her family to live the Floridian life back in 2016. We moved partly for the warm weather, and mostly to be close to the Mouse!
I am also a fierce advocate for children on the Autism Spectrum and as a travel addict, I love showing fellow autism moms that it is possible to take adventures and make memories every day.
Shoot me a comment or an email, I would love to get to know you as well!
The 3 things I hope you take away from your time on Mommyhood Life
Mommyhood is hard, none of us are living an Instagram feed. When in doubt check my stories for a view into the real and the messy side of daily life.
We can make memories in the mess. Some days they are made by staying in our jammies all day watching movies and other days they can be made on top of the world. You get to decide!
The Start of Mommyhood Life
In 2009, I was sitting in a small apartment with a preschooler and two newborns, my ex-husband owned a restaurant and worked endless hours, and as someone who was used to constantly being out and about, it didn’t take long for me to start feeling lost and lonely.
I love being a mom, and it is the only job I ever truly wanted but I still needed an outlet. So, one night I started a blog, not thinking of it as any more than a personal journal that had the added perk of keeping my family from Brazil up to date on our lives because back then social media was just catching on outside of the U.S.
I had used writing as an outlet my entire life, so I quickly fell in love with the idea of a virtual notebook.
Now over 10 years later, this site has become a business, led to countless opportunities for my family, and built friendships that mean the world to me, and I honestly couldn’t imagine a life without blogging.
Meet the Family Behind the Blog
I became a single mother in 2021 after being married for nearly 20 years, meaning my entire adult life. In the 20 years, I had lived in Brazil, I had moved across the country, I had raised 3 beautiful children, and started 2 businesses, however, nothing prepared me for the rollercoaster of a journey of becoming a single mom would be.
Meet the Kids…
Our oldest son, Anthony, is our serious boy who loves museums, STEM club, traveling to new places and learning about everything he lays his eyes on.
Anthony is 17 years old and I have learned parenting a teenager is a whole new level of motherhood. But watching his passion for football and wrestling grow from the stands makes every late practice pick-up worth it.
When Anthony was 4 years old, the twins were born and our life went from calm to chaos but in the most amazing way!
Aidan is my rambunctious and adventurous boy who loves sports, animals, and making friends everywhere he goes.
Aidan is 13 years old and was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum at age 2.
Aidan has taught me how strong I am in so many ways. Advocating for him, protecting him, and watching him grow has been the hardest and greatest job I have ever been blessed with.
Lilly is the artist of the family. She loves fashion, painting, sketching, and when she occasionaly cleans the paint off her hands she enjoys baking and getting her nails done.
Lilly is 13 years old and Baby B of the twins, meaning she is also the baby of the family. Although, she thinks she is the oldest and likes to care for and boss her brothers around.
She is my little bestie and is a constant reminder to love myself and work hard because I have a little girl always watching.
