DIY Family Game Night Trophy

Family Game Nights are the best, but doesn’t every household need a Family Game Night Trophy? If so, this is the one for you!

In our house, family game night is awesome. The laughing, the friendly competition…everyone wanting to win, but also helping each other out along the way. It’s truly one of the best ways to bond together as a family.

BUT, let’s not forget about the all-important game night trophy. Even though everyone loves everyone and we all want each other to do well and win, the bottom line is that there can only be one winner.

This is where this DIY Family Game Night Trophy comes into play! The great part about creating your own game night trophy is that you can create it using whatever you have around the house!

Make it a fun family crafting event and have everyone find something related to board games that is no longer needed or used. Then, gather around and create the most “beautiful” DIY Family Game Night Trophy you can possibly make!

Each week, the winner gets to keep the trophy until the challenge of the game night the following week, and also gets to be labeled the “Board Game King/Queen” for the Week!

How to Make a Family Game Night Trophy:

The best part of this project is that you can make it however you want with whatever supplies you have.  If you have games that are missing pieces or if you see games at the thrift store feel free to use pieces from those!

Use white acrylic paint to paint the base and the wood dice cubes.  Allow it to dry.

Use a small paintbrush to paint black dots on the wood dice cubes.

Family Game Night Trophy Step 4

Paint the base with the gold liquid leaf.

We also painted a plastic lid that we had gold.  Doing this project again, I would use poker chips.  I think that would be a fun addition!

Family Game Night Trophy Step 2

We decided to spell the word ‘champ’ with Scrabble tiles on the front.  Some other options would be No. One, First, or if your last name is short you could do that.  Hot glue the letters on the front.

Family Game Night Trophy Step 5

Hot glue the dried wooden dice on to the base.

Family Game Night Trophy Step 8

To get some height, we used a toilet paper tube.  (Yay for recycling!)

Hot glue the game pieces to the toilet paper tube.  (Amazon is totally the place to go for these.)

Family Game Night Trophy Step 6

Glue the game piece toilet paper tube to the top of the dice.

Glue the lid (or if you have Poker chips, that’s what I would use doing this project again).

Family Game Night Trophy Top

Top off your trophy with a chess piece.
