Dinosaur Themed Food Recipe
Did you know that velociraptors made an appearance in every single one of the Jurassic Park/World movies? In the storyline, Blue is the park’s first-ever engineered velociraptor. She gets her name from her iridescent blue scales. Because of this, I was immediately inspired to make these Jurassic World Themed Dino Egg Cereal Treats and we are loving this dinosaur themed recipe!
Creating the marbled finish on these treats wasn’t as hard as I expected. All it takes is some imagination and a bit of an artistic touch. These treats are ultra-sweet since they are completely enrobed with candy melts. Oh-so-delicious and oh-so-perfect for a dino-themed birthday party, don’t you think?
Dino Egg Cereal Treats Recipe
Yields: 15-20 dino eggs
3 tablespoons butter
3 cups mini marshmallows
4 cups rice cereal
1 cup white candy melts
1 cup blue candy melts
2 tsp coconut oil, divided
First, line a baking sheet with wax paper and set it aside.
Next, in a medium-sized pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Once the marshmallows are melted, remove melted marshmallow from heat and add rice cereal. Then, fold until cereal and marshmallow mixture are thoroughly combined.
After the cereal and melted marshmallows are mixed together well, mold the cereal treats into egg shapes. Make each egg about 2 inches in length and 1 in width, at its thickest part, and place each egg on the lined baking sheet carefully.
Put eggs aside for a moment to melt chocolate. Place each of your candy melts in microwave safe bowls and for each bowl, add 1 tsp of coconut oil. Microwave each bowl of chocolate melts in 30-second intervals, mixing between each interval until completely melted.
Once all the chocolate melts are melted, pour the melted white candy in a larger bowl. Then, pour in the melted blue candy. Using a spoon, carefully fold the two colors into one another to create a marbled look.
With the help of a fork, dip each of your egg-shaped cereal treats into the melted candy and place back onto your lined baking sheet.
Place in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to reharden melted chocolate.
Enjoy these bites of deliciousness after seeing the movie which comes out in theaters June 23rd! We are seeing INCREDIBLES 2 today with some movie-themed Rice Krispy treats and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom with this dinosaur themed recipe tomorrow.
