Rainbow Unicorn Donuts Recipe

I can’t tell you how much my kiddos love this recipe. And honestly, it’s easy to see why. First off, it’s donuts…(Who doesn’t love donuts!?) Secondly, they’re colorful and delicious as well. AND covered in sprinkles! No kiddo (or adult) can deny these fun and festive Unicorn Sprinkle Donuts!

So many people tend to think of donuts as a breakfast food, but that just doesn’t have to be the case! Donuts can be for any time of the day as they make a super yummy treat and dessert, too!

What I love about these sprinkle donuts is that they are perfect for a Unicorn birthday party as well. Cake and cupcakes are always done, so think how cool it would be to do a donut option instead for the birthday boy or girl? Plus, they are less messy and don’t require a plate or a fork.

Anything that I can do to reduce trash and mess sounds like a win to me!

If you’re looking for a fun unicorn-themed treat that will steal the show, these Unicorn Sprinkle Donuts may be just what you’ve been waiting for!

How To Make Sprinkle Unicorn Donuts at Home

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray your donut pans with a non-stick baking spray.

Start with a large mixing bowl and add together the flour, baking powder, and salt.  Stir to combine the dry ingredients and set the bowl to the side.

Next, in a separate bowl, add the buttermilk, sugar, egg, butter, and vanilla.  Stir until the ingredients are fully combined and then begin adding your dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.  Stir until everything is fully combined.

Then, divide the batter into four smaller bowls and add three drops of the neon pink food coloring into one bowl, three drops of the neon blue food coloring into another bowl, three drops of the neon green food coloring into the third bowl, and three drops of the neon purple food coloring into the last bowl.

Stir each bowl until the color is well blended into the batter.

Once you have the colored batter mixed, spoon each colored into a separate pastry bag (pink, blue, green, and purple).

Make a large dot with the pink batter in the first well, then make a large dot with the blue batter, slightly overlapping the pink batter in the first well. Next, make a large dot with the green batter next to the blue batter in the first well and make a large dot with the purple batter next to the green batter in the first well.

Repeat the same process in the remaining donut wells.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cool 10 minutes.

Glaze Donuts

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk.

Place a piece of foil under the wire rack with the donuts to catch any glaze and then pour your glaze from the bowl onto the donuts.

Add the sprinkles immediately after the donuts have been glazed.
