I don’t know about you, but I love red velvet cake, cupcakes and anything that I can eat that is flavored that way…There’s just something about the taste and the moistness of the cake that has me coming back time after time for more. When this Apple Decorated Red Velvet Cupcake recipe landed on my radar, I knew that this was going to be an absolute hit for my family, my friends, and my tastebuds as well.
Of course, I immediately thought that this was a fun treat for Fall and also for teachers but ultimately, I knew that this treat would be a huge hit in my home! The moment that I started making these red velvet cupcakes, I was hooked. Seriously, they are super fun and simple to make and honestly, unlike most other cupcakes out there in terms of visual appeal.
And if you want to know a little secret, these cupcakes may look like they take a while to make…but they don’t! They are forgiving in the fact that they don’t have to be perfect to look amazing. And that is a win in my book every time!
Ingredients to make red velvet cupcakes
1 box of Red Velvet Cake Mix (and ingredients needed)
1 tube of White Icing
Red Sugar Sprinkles
Pretzels
Mike and Ike’s Green Apple Candies
How to make Red Velvet Cupcakes that Look Like Apples
Start by preparing the cake mix according to box instructions and line cupcake pan with cupcake liners and fill each 3/4 of the way full.
Next, bake according to box instructions and let cool completely.
To decorate begin with icing each cupcake with white icing. Once each cupcake is frosted, roll the tops of the cupcake in red sugar sprinkles, until icing is completely coated.
To complete the apple theme, place a pretzel through the center of each cupcake and place one Mike and Ike candy next to each pretzel.
Serve and enjoy!
