Moana Cupcakes Inspired by the Heart of Te Fiti – Princess Party
Moana Cupcakes
Moana is such an inspirational character. She is driven, courageous and knows how to stand her ground. Now that is a role model, and so many little girls love her and will undoubtedly fall in love with these Moana Cupcakes inspired by the powerful princess.
Here in our household, we love Disney movies and Moana is often on all day long! Recently, I was inspired by the film, Moana. I whipped up my Heart of Te Fiti Cupcakes. As I was making it, I could almost hear Moana singing to Te Fiti and telling her “you know who you are.” That scene gets me: Every. Single. Time.
If you are planning on hosting a Moana-themed birthday party, then these cupcakes are just what you need. You know what? It really doesn’t take much to make them! Just a batch of your favorite cupcakes, some green fondant and icing! How awesome is that!
Ingredients you’ll need to make these Moana cakes:
One dozen chocolate cupcakes – cooled down and ready for decorating
4 oz. Kelly green fondant
4 oz. pastel green fondant
Green decorating icing
1 stick butter, softened
2 cups icing sugar
4-5 tbsp milk
Blue gel food coloring
Start by folding both of your fondants with one another, to create a marbled look. Then separate them into 12 1 ½ inch spheres, taking care that they remain marbled. To keep them looking marbled, don’t over roll them!
Once your fondant is rolled and cut, shape the fondant spheres into ovals that are slightly flattened.
Then with your decorating icing, draw a swirl in the middle of each oval.
Next, set aside the Heart of Te Fiti’s to create some delicious ocean colored frosting.
Using an electric mixer, beat butter, icing sugar and milk on medium speed. When the frosting ingredients are mixed add 2 drops of blue gel food coloring and increase the mixer’s speed to high.
Once all the ingredients are completely combined and the frosting is a beautiful shade of sea blue, use an offset spatula to frost each cupcake.
Place one fondant shape on each cupcake and enjoy your delicious treat while watching this amazing Disney Movie!
