How To Plan The Perfect Family-Friendly Wedding

Weddings are utterly magical, but they can also be a little stressful – especially when you’re trying to make sure guests of all ages feel totally welcome and have a great time. Planning a family friendly wedding isn’t just about giving the kids their own menu or some coloring sheets at dinner; it’s about creating an experience where everyone, from toddlers to grandparents, can celebrate your big day and really have a wonderful time. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to place the perfect family-friendly wedding.

Choose A Venue That Works For Everyone

A stunning cliff-side location or a lovely rooftop might look fabulous when it comes to your photos and be really romantic for the wedding, but is it a good option if you’ve got little ones running about or older people who can’t manage stairs very well? It’s crucial when you’re choosing a venue to make sure you’re thinking about everyone you’ve invited and any accessibility issues they might have so you know everyone’s going to be happy.

Some good ideas for putting on your must-have list for your venue include plenty of space to move around, comfortable seating options, and maybe even an outdoor area where the kids can run around and let off steam. And you could also look for a venue with designated quiet zones as that can be a bonus for anyone who needs a bit of a break.

Add Entertainment For All Ages

To keep everyone entertained, it’s wise to think about how to keep everyone of all ages happy, and you can start with the youngest and work up. For the little ones, you can set up a kid-friendly corner with games, puzzles, or perhaps even a craft table, and if you want to go all out, you can hire a face painter or balloon artist, and so on.

For the adults, think about adding interactive elements like a photo booth, and of course, nothing gets the party started like a great wedding DJ! They can create a playlist that caters to everyone, playing some old classics, some kid-friendly tunes, and new hits so everyone can hear (and dance to) something they love.

Have A Flexible Schedule

The truth is that kids (and some adults) don’t do all that well with a long, drawn-out ceremony, so if you’re going to have children at your wedding, it’s a good idea to keep things moving by thinking carefully about your schedule and planning something that moves fairly quickly (without feeling rushed – this is still your big day, after all).

A shorter ceremony and plenty of time for playing, dancing, mingling, and eating afterwards is a great idea because that’s going to keep everyone happy. As for the traditional speeches, they can be quite boring for people to sit through, so if you’re going to have them, why not sprinkle them throughout the evening rather than doing them all at once? It’s less pressure on anyone giving a speech, plus you’ll keep the energy levels high and that’s always more fun.
