3 Morning Activities That’ll Help You Get Into The Swing Of The Day

Do you need an extra little pick me up in the mornings? Maybe it takes ages for the grogginess to wear off and you’re getting sick and tired of feeling like a zombie?

It’s not an unusual thing to have to deal with after just waking up, which means there’s plenty you can do to kick the feeling and get into the swing of the day!

So let’s give your brain a little wake up call. Here are just three things to try out and incorporate into your regular morning routine.

Stretch in Bed

Stretching is a good way to shake off sleep and wake your muscles up, but did you know that you can do them in bed and get just as much benefit? You don’t need to get out of bed and roll out the yoga mat – you just need some space to sit up and give your arms, legs, and core a little workout.

If you don’t have to get out of bed, you’re not going to automatically give this activity a skip after the first couple of times. You can keep your blanket or duvet on top of you, keep your pajamas on, and take five to ten minutes stretching. Do it enough and you’ll soon feel super flexible.

Do a 5 Minute Puzzle

Five minute puzzles are perfect for getting the day started. You know why? They’re easy enough for a sleepy brain to try out, but they require strong enough thinking to kick that groggy feeling that’s so annoying.

Something like a sudoku or a crossword are good choices, but if you have a preferred puzzle type, make sure it won’t take you too long and then keep it on your bedside table for the morning. You’re likely to have plenty more challenges in the hours ahead so this will be a nice one to get started with!

Make Yourself a Nice Drink

A cup of coffee is a common thing in the morning, but it’s not the only thing you can drink to get the day going. A small glass of water is a pretty good idea; keeping one by your bedside to take a few mouthfuls from when you wake up can make a real difference to your hydration level.

However, heading down to the kitchen to put some effort into your morning beverage is crucial here. That glass of water you like to have first thing? Squeeze a bit of lemon juice into it to give yourself a boost of vitamins at the same time. It also helps the water to go down smoother, thanks to a much better flavor profile!

Getting into the swing of the day can be difficult. If you want to change the way you feel first thing in the morning, one or all of the tips above can make a difference. You don’t need much time to spare for them and it’s perfectly OK to only try them here and there too.
