Cocoa Muddy Buddies
Candy Cane Reindeer

These Candy Cane Reindeer are certain to put anyone in the holiday spirit! Plus, they taste great, too!

There’s something about the holiday spirit that just screams, “It’s time to create!” I don’t know about you, but I love to see all the festive food creations that everyone does throughout the holidays of the year.

In our family, we love Christmas, and love reindeer. (Let’s be honest…they often get overlooked because Santa tends to steal the show!) Once I knew that this recipe was super simple, it was on my holiday radar as a “must-do”.

Trust me…you won’t have to work hard to recruit your family members to help with this Candy Cane Reindeer recipe. In fact, they may want to make it a family tradition year after year!

I love the idea of making these up a few days before Christmas and giving them out as gifts to family and friends. And who knows, maybe you’ll make enough that you’ll have some left over for late night Santa snacking as well. After all, putting a few of these out on his plate would be a much welcomed changed from those plain on cookies that he has to eat, right?!

½ Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
¼ Creamy Peanut Butter
2 Tbsp. Butter
1 teas. Vanilla
5 Cups Chex Cereal
¾ Cups Powdered Sugar
2 Tbsp. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

In a microwave safe bowl combine the Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter and Butter. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave in additional 15 second increments stirring after each until melted and smooth. Stir in the Vanilla.

In a large bowl add the Cereal and pour the melted chocolate over the top. Gently fold with a spatula until the Cereal is completely coated. Transfer to a Gallon size resealable bag.
In a small bowl combine the Powdered Sugar and Cocoa Powder, sprinkle about half into the bag with the Cereal. Seal the bag, make sure you leave lots of air in the bag, then shake to coat.
Add the remaining Sugar and Cocoa and shake again.
Serve or keep in sealed bag.

That's a good tip to leave the air in before shaking. I'm so used to ensuring the air is all out when sealing things that I probably would have done that automatically.
