Filling in the Nutritional Gap During the School Year! #NatureMadeAtTarget

This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.
With school back in session, I am back to worrying about the kid’s getting all the vitamins they need throughout the day.  They are eating breakfast and lunch at school, which only leaves me preparing and watching how much is eaten at one meal a day.  Knowing that Aidan is already a very picky eater and that the medication he is on for his autism usually leaves him with little to no interest in food, I worry that he isn’t getting much nutrition from his diet.

Springing Into The Summer Body I Want! #IfYourClothesCouldTalk

Spring in here!  I love that the weather is getting warmer and the sun is shining, however it’s also a reminder that I need to get my butt in gear.
The winter months in New England are cold and dull and it is so easy to fall into a mommy slump of comfort food, sweat pants, and messy buns.  We rarely go out in the cold months besides to the grocery store and Target.  So my closet full of clothes just hang there unused and it is easy to not realize that all those beautiful outfits wont be fitting very nicely come summer time because I’ve spent 6 months cooped up watching movies and sitting in the mini van playing chauffeur to different sporting practices.

However spring brings out a sense of new beginnings and fresh starts.  There is something about the weather change that brings out a new sense of energy and ideas.  That new energy and my closet full of clothes that don’t fit are telling me it is time to trade in my sweat pants for work out gear and my comfort food for refreshing fruit and yummy salads.
The first change I make when I pull myself out of a mommy slump is to start taking daily walks.  I can usually build myself up to walking a good 3-5 miles within the first week.  Walking gets me into the mood I need to change my living habits.  It clears my mind, de-stresses me, and just gives me time alone to blast my headphones and sweat out the winter months.
After I get my daily walk locked into my schedule, I add some workouts in a few days a week by either hitting the gym our using some awesome home videos.  Luckily once I start my daily workouts I am able to slim down fairly quickly especially when combined with some healthy food choices.
However, I have had three kids, and like most mothers I have those stubborn areas that don’t slim down or tighten up as easily as the rest.  A lot of my mommy friends complain about their tummy area and that no matter how many crunches they do nothing seems to change.  However for me, it’s the love-handle area.  I have tried everything from yoga to hula hooping and nothing sheds the inches.
I spend so much time taking care of my husband, my children, my family, friends, home, and work.  I don’t think it’s to much to ask to want to feel good about myself in my own clothes and to be able to sit down without worrying about a big bulge hanging over my pants.
So I decided to start researching some non invasive ways to help me look better in my clothes which in turn will help my self esteem and SculpSure looks like the perfect option!
About SculpSure:
  • SculpSure is a non-invasive body contouring treatment for the reduction of stubborn fat in areas such as the abdomen and love handles.
  • The 25 minute procedure destroys up to 24% of treated fat cells without surgery.

This sounds like exactly what I need!  As moms our bodies go through a lot and the fact that SculpSure is a noninvasive way to help us along on our journey to get the body we want, sound perfect to me!
Here are some great before and after pictures:
This is definitely something I am interested in trying, if you are too, click here to find a doctor near you for a free consultation to discuss whether SculpSure is the right option for you.

Taking Back My Schedule and Control of My Health with Amwell! + Coupon Code!

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Amwell.
How much time do you waste sitting in a waiting room? As a busy mom, I often put off scheduling any appointments for myself until I end up hitting a wall and needing to see a doctor with a lengthy list of reasons my body is falling apart. I have my days packed as it is and trying to find time to stop working, find a babysitter, drive to an appointment, and then sit in a waiting room for sometimes up to an hour, gives me anxiety.

However I also know I need to stay on top of my health, I struggle with numerous chronic conditions that when left untreated can land me in bed for days.
This leaves me feeling like I’m balancing a tight rope between taking time off for appointments or time off to recover from my conditions.
This is why Amwell is so important to me. Amwell is the nations largest telehealth company which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on desktop and mobile devices.
I am able to see a board certified, licensed doctor, nutritionist or psychologist from the comfort of my home. No babysitter, no drive to the doctors office, no waiting rooms!
Besides the convenience of seeing a doctor from home, I also love how you can pull up your health record whenever you want.
I will simply print out any information I want to bring with me to my next pcp appointment.
Medical Services:
Amwell’s licensed providers can take care of minor illnesses and injury, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management.
Plus you can send the health info stored on many devices straight to the doctor, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and more.
Diet and Nutrition
The Diet and Nutrition area of Amwell allows you to connect directly to a registered dietitian who is experienced in sports nutrition. This service can help you with anything from enhancing your performance goals to weight loss.
Therapy:

Amwell therapists are another great feature being offered. They have dozens of psychologists and counselors that have been trained in telehealth.
This is a service I know so many people can benefit from, even for those mommy melt down moments when you just need to talk to talk to someone, who isn’t involved in your day to day life. Having a counselor available online, is incredible.

This is definitely a service that changes the way I view healthcare and allows me to take back control of my schedule!

Amwell is a great health care option to try, and I have a coupon code to help make that easier.

Self Employed, Health Care, and Your Taxes! What it all means.

The holidays will be over before we know and the 2015 year will be coming to an end.  It really feels like this year flew by in the blink of an eye!  With the new year comes the new stress of tax time.
Back when my husband and I both had 9 to 5 jobs with a simple W-2 form, I never gave tax time a second thought.  I would jump on Turbo Tax as soon as the W-2’s came in the mail and have our taxes finished in less than 30 minutes.
Now that we are both self employed, things have changed.  Being self employed means we no longer have the luxury of W-2 forms. I no who thinks of tax forms as luxury?  However I can honestly say going from the once a year task of entering a few numbers into a space to the now daily task of tracking our income, expenses, and potential write offs, makes me realize how easy things were.
Being self employed also means no employee health benefits.  With 3 kids, one with autism and another with severe asthma, plus having chronic health issues myself, going without health insurance doesn’t seem like a smart or cost effective option for us.  Plus now that the Affordable Care Act is in place, the penalty for not having insurance goes beyond excessive doctor bills and hits you with a penalty at tax time.
Luckily we were able to find a great health plan that was affordable, this really allowed us both to pursue our dreams without one of us having to maintain a job that provided insurance.
It is currently open enrollment time, if you are looking for health insurance.
We file our taxes every year with Turbo Tax, and have since the year I started filing my taxes my self.  I love how they make everything an easy and streamlined process, whether I have a simple W-2 or own my own business.  They ask the questions and I click on the answers and provide my end of the year calculations.  Reporting health insurance for the year is no different, for nearly 80% of taxpayers it is as simple as clicking a box while filing with Turbo Tax.
Taxpayers who have insurance through an employer, government program, such as Medicare or Medicaid, or other private insurance will receive a 1095-B or C form. You do not need these forms to report insurance and file taxes, they are for your records only.
Turbo Tax also offers a lot of tools to help you understand how ACA effects your taxes, find out if you qualify for assistance paying for insurance, and if you qualify for an exemption.  These tools include;
Along with numerous video’s to help you decide what your best option will be when it comes to health care options.

Turbo Tax has always been my go to tax resource.  When I was 18 and filing my own taxes for the first time, and now as a busy working mom who wants the peace of mind of knowing her families health care is covered.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

A New Reason to Love Amwell! Plus a Coupon Code

This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Amwell. All opinions are my own.

Before the summer began, I told you about a great new online service I tried called Amwell. It was a web-service that allowed me to connect with a doctor online and be treated from the comforts of my own home.

I was so excited about this service, knowing how busy my summer was going to be, between traveling to Brazil, a road trip to Florida, and preparing for new schools. I was right to be excited, I ended up with a UTI while traveling and Aidan got an ear infection while we were far away from our doctors office. Amwell helped me get treated quickly so we could continue enjoying our trip.

Now, Amwell has even more to love! They are offering a Diet and Nutrition section along with a Psychology section.

The Diet and Nutrition area of Amwell allows you to connect directly to a nutritionist who can help you with anything from food allergies to weight loss. Nutritionists are available online, Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm ET and on Saturdays from 10am to 6pm.
This means you don’t need to miss a day of work or pull the kids out of school to be seen, the hours are great.

Amwell Psychology is another great feature being offered. They have dozens of psychologists and counselors that have been trained in telehealth.

As a busy mom I find the medical and nutrition aspects of Amwell a great option for me to get things done that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to due to time limitations or distance. However the Psychology feature amazes me. I have wondered for a long time why a program like this wasn’t available and I am thrilled to learn about it.
I personally have reached out to make local appointments with a psychologist for help dealing with chronic health issues I have, and it can take over a month to get in to see either a councilor or psychologist. I have also witnessed family members and close friends come close to having break downs while having no resources to help them.

So you have to wait months to get assigned a counselor, while you wait you possibly fall further into depression or have bigger anxiety issues. If your lucky enough to have someone who notices the problem and brings you to the emergency room, like I have done with family members after the death of her child, you are just loaded up on medication and sent on your way. Our mental health care system is broken, that is obvious. However having an option like this where while I’m waiting to get into see that doctor who has a long wait list, I can log on from my own home and talk to some one. How amazing is that!
This is a service I know so many people can benefit from, even for those mommy melt down moments when you just need to talk to talk to someone, who isn’t involved in your day to day life. Having a counselor available online, is incredible.

Like I said last time I talked about Amwell, you can pull up your health record at anytime. So when you get a chance to visit your primary care doctor you can show him your Nutritionist appointment record. Or when you get into see a local mental health professional you can bring your record from Amwell. This allows you to keep everyone providing you health care on the same page.

Amwell is definitely a great health care option to try, and I have a coupon code to help make that easier.

5 Easy Ways for Busy Moms to Stay Healthy

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Incredible Innovations®. The opinions and text are all mine.
As a busy mom it can be very hard to stay on a healthy track.  Life can get crazy and everyone depends on you.  However if you make small steps everyday to live a healthier life, it will become easier.

Here are 5 Easy Ways to Stay Healthy:
1.  Get to sleep.  I have found myself up working or cleaning, and then I look at the clock and it’s past midnight.  I immediately stress knowing I have to be up in a few hours, which in turn makes it harder to fall asleep.  Stay on a sleep schedule so that your body can get the rest it needs and you can feel refreshed in the morning.
2. Get active during everyday life.  As a stay at home mom, its easy to end up staying in your sweats or pajamas all day.  No one’s going to see me and I’ll be in the house or mini van all day.  Big mistake!  I find that when I get up and get dressed, even if it is just into a pair of yoga pants and sneakers, I get so much more done and that means I get moving more.  I park far away from stores, take the stairs, dance while I’m cleaning, even have jumping jack and cartwheel contests with the kids.  Just fit in little periods of time to get your heart moving.
3. Drink your water.  This is a struggle for me, I hate water!  Then someone told me your body burns calories just by drinking the right amount of water.  I guess that was motivation enough for me because now I try to get a gallon in a day.  However I still need to infuse it with all sorts of fruits and veggies in-order to get it down.  I like strawberries or cucumber and mint the most.
4.  Find ways to de-stress.  As a mom it is easy to give all of yourself to everyone else.  Your kids always need you, your husband, your family, and your friends need you.  There is always housework to do and errands to run.  However it is so important to find a little bit of time to unwind and de-stress.  Get a massage, take a bath, lock the door and paint your nails, whatever makes you relax.
5.  Snack healthy.  Instead of picking off the kids plates or grabbing a high calorie snack on the run, plan ahead.  Keep healthy snacks that you think are delicious in the house, so you wont be as tempted to eat junk.
My new go to healthy snacks are the Incredible Perfectly Free non-dairy frozen bites.  These bites have a creamy frozen vanilla flavored center and covered with 4 delicious flavor choices, Cocoa, Cherry, Blueberry, and Salted Caramel.
They are free from most common allergens, including dairy, gluten, wheat, soy, egg, peanut, almond, cashew, fish, and shellfish.
What I like best is that they curve my sweet tooth and are a super tasty dessert at just 35 calories each!
My kids eat the whole box of cocoa flavored bites before I get to them, but my personal favorite is the salted caramel.
Ready to try the yummyness?  They are available at Star Market, Big Y, Donelan’s, Crosby’s Marketplace, and Market Basket. In the freezer section near the ice cream/dessert section.  Check for a store near you here!

5 Tips for Keeping Your Kids Germ Free at School! #WishIHadAWetOnes

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Wet Ones®. The opinions and text are all mine.
The back to school season is upon us and that means new friends, fresh crayons, and GERMS.  With Lilly’s asthma a simple cold can quickly escalate to pneumonia which is very scary, so we try to keep the kids in the habit of following these 5 rules to keep the germs at bay.

1. Always cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue.
2. Keep backpacks off the floor whenever possible.  If there is a hook or shelf use it.
3.Wash your hands frequently and wash them right.  Aidan tries to wash his hands as fast as possible and frequently skips the soap if he’s not reminded, so we go through our hand washing steps daily.  We also want to keep our hands away from our face.
4.  Don’t eat and drink off our friends tray.  Kids innocently share a chicken nugget or a sip of their milk at lunch not realizing their friends are coming down with the flu.  So we say that this is a no-no all around.
5.  Keep a Wet Ones individual wipe in your lunchbox and backpack.  I love these handy dandy little wipes, they’re easy to carry and use, and best of all they clean my kids messy hands while killing 99.9% of germs.
I prefer Wet Ones over other hand sanitizes because they don’t dry out my kids skin with the aloe formula, they’re also hypoallergenic.  This is big plus in my house because we live in New England and in the winter everyone’s hands can get super dry and painful.  With Wet Ones we have no problems, plus the single packets are the easiest to pack up for the kids everyday with no waist.
While your at Target getting your back to school shopping done make sure you pick up some Wet Ones to keep your little ones germ free.  Plus make sure you bring this awesome coupon with you and stock up during this great deal!

Watch Out for the 10 Perils of Summer + A Doctor on Demand Coupon Code!

*This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Doctor on Demand. All opinions are my own.*

Summer is here!  I love the summer months, we are able to get outside and explore all over the place.  This year we have plans to go camping in New Hampshire, visit the beaches in Florida, and do so much exploring in between.

With all this outdoors time it is inevitable that one of the kids will get a bug bite, step on something yucky, fall off their bike, or end up with one of the 10 perils of summer.

1.Bee Sting – Ouch! Bees, wasps, hornets and other stinging bugs are sometimes unavoidable.

2.Sunburn  – Protect your skin from the sun, and avoid the most severe UV rays between 10am-4pm.

3.Concussions – A concussion can result from a blow to the body or head, such as a fall from a swing set.

4.Poison Oak & Ivy – In the woods everything is green and leafy and… poisonous? Some plants really make you itch.

5.Jellyfish – They’re not really fish, and they don’t attack. But their tentacles pack a painful and potent venom.

6.Tick bites – Lyme disease and other complications can arise from a nasty little tick bite. Ask a doctor.

7.Sunstroke – Kids and seniors are at higher risk for heat exhaustion and sunstroke. Be aware.

8.Sports Injuries – After a long winter, we’re in a rush to get outdoors. Sometimes leading to a trip and fall.

9.Burns – Accidents can happen when we’re around campfires or BBQ grills. Get treatment right away.

10.Kids bumps and bruises – Sometimes it’s a minor scrape, but it may be a more serious bruise. Let’s have a look.

I’m a lot less nervous about all these potential accidents now that I’ve tried Doctor on Demand!  There has been so many occasions when I have sat with a kid that just got a boo boo not knowing if it really warranted a trip to emergency room and when the pediatricians office is closed trying to describe symptoms to a covering doctor over the phone isn’t always easy.  With Doctors on Demand, I am video chatting with the doctor so they can see what I see, plus I can snap pictures during the chat and send them right to the doctor.

Another great thing about Doctor on Demand is the app is its available when ever you are.  As a busy mom I often have little illnesses that I just don’t want to waist the time sitting in a doctors office for, so I put off going.  Now I can just tap my phone and the ‘waiting room” only takes a few moments.

I used Doctor on Demand today for a rash I have on the arch of my foot.  The rash has been a nuisance but not painful or bothersome enough to schedule a doctors appointment during my busiest time of the year.  Luckily Doctor on Demand came to the rescue, I was easily able to turn on the app and connect with a doctor immediately.  I was able to send pictures to Dr. Sullivan along with video chatting so that she could get a great visual and then she called me in a prescription for an antibacterial cream and an anti itch lotion.  Both prescriptions were ready at my pharmacy within an hour, I simply ran through the pharmacy drive-thru and my rash is on its way to being healed.

A Doctors visit at Doctor on Demand cost $40, but you can give them a try for free with coupon code EASTCOAST.

Stuff happens but Doctors on Demand is always just a few taps away, no matter where you are this summer!
