Filling in the Nutritional Gap During the School Year! #NatureMadeAtTarget

This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.
With school back in session, I am back to worrying about the kid’s getting all the vitamins they need throughout the day.  They are eating breakfast and lunch at school, which only leaves me preparing and watching how much is eaten at one meal a day.  Knowing that Aidan is already a very picky eater and that the medication he is on for his autism usually leaves him with little to no interest in food, I worry that he isn’t getting much nutrition from his diet.

Springing Into The Summer Body I Want! #IfYourClothesCouldTalk

Spring in here!  I love that the weather is getting warmer and the sun is shining, however it’s also a reminder that I need to get my butt in gear.
The winter months in New England are cold and dull and it is so easy to fall into a mommy slump of comfort food, sweat pants, and messy buns.  We rarely go out in the cold months besides to the grocery store and Target.  So my closet full of clothes just hang there unused and it is easy to not realize that all those beautiful outfits wont be fitting very nicely come summer time because I’ve spent 6 months cooped up watching movies and sitting in the mini van playing chauffeur to different sporting practices.

However spring brings out a sense of new beginnings and fresh starts.  There is something about the weather change that brings out a new sense of energy and ideas.  That new energy and my closet full of clothes that don’t fit are telling me it is time to trade in my sweat pants for work out gear and my comfort food for refreshing fruit and yummy salads.
The first change I make when I pull myself out of a mommy slump is to start taking daily walks.  I can usually build myself up to walking a good 3-5 miles within the first week.  Walking gets me into the mood I need to change my living habits.  It clears my mind, de-stresses me, and just gives me time alone to blast my headphones and sweat out the winter months.
After I get my daily walk locked into my schedule, I add some workouts in a few days a week by either hitting the gym our using some awesome home videos.  Luckily once I start my daily workouts I am able to slim down fairly quickly especially when combined with some healthy food choices.
However, I have had three kids, and like most mothers I have those stubborn areas that don’t slim down or tighten up as easily as the rest.  A lot of my mommy friends complain about their tummy area and that no matter how many crunches they do nothing seems to change.  However for me, it’s the love-handle area.  I have tried everything from yoga to hula hooping and nothing sheds the inches.
I spend so much time taking care of my husband, my children, my family, friends, home, and work.  I don’t think it’s to much to ask to want to feel good about myself in my own clothes and to be able to sit down without worrying about a big bulge hanging over my pants.
So I decided to start researching some non invasive ways to help me look better in my clothes which in turn will help my self esteem and SculpSure looks like the perfect option!
About SculpSure:
  • SculpSure is a non-invasive body contouring treatment for the reduction of stubborn fat in areas such as the abdomen and love handles.

Taking Back My Schedule and Control of My Health with Amwell! + Coupon Code!

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Amwell.
How much time do you waste sitting in a waiting room? As a busy mom, I often put off scheduling any appointments for myself until I end up hitting a wall and needing to see a doctor with a lengthy list of reasons my body is falling apart. I have my days packed as it is and trying to find time to stop working, find a babysitter, drive to an appointment, and then sit in a waiting room for sometimes up to an hour, gives me anxiety.

However I also know I need to stay on top of my health, I struggle with numerous chronic conditions that when left untreated can land me in bed for days.
This leaves me feeling like I’m balancing a tight rope between taking time off for appointments or time off to recover from my conditions.
This is why Amwell is so important to me. Amwell is the nations largest telehealth company which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on desktop and mobile devices.
I am able to see a board certified, licensed doctor, nutritionist or psychologist from the comfort of my home. No babysitter, no drive to the doctors office, no waiting rooms!
Besides the convenience of seeing a doctor from home, I also love how you can pull up your health record whenever you want.
I will simply print out any information I want to bring with me to my next pcp appointment.
Medical Services:
Amwell’s licensed providers can take care of minor illnesses and injury, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management.
Plus you can send the health info stored on many devices straight to the doctor, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and more.
Diet and Nutrition
The Diet and Nutrition area of Amwell allows you to connect directly to a registered dietitian who is experienced in sports nutrition. This service can help you with anything from enhancing your performance goals to weight loss.
Therapy:

Amwell therapists are another great feature being offered. They have dozens of psychologists and counselors that have been trained in telehealth.
This is a service I know so many people can benefit from, even for those mommy melt down moments when you just need to talk to talk to someone, who isn’t involved in your day to day life. Having a counselor available online, is incredible.

This is definitely a service that changes the way I view healthcare and allows me to take back control of my schedule!

Amwell is a great health care option to try, and I have a coupon code to help make that easier.

Self Employed, Health Care, and Your Taxes! What it all means.

The holidays will be over before we know and the 2015 year will be coming to an end.  It really feels like this year flew by in the blink of an eye!  With the new year comes the new stress of tax time.
Back when my husband and I both had 9 to 5 jobs with a simple W-2 form, I never gave tax time a second thought.  I would jump on Turbo Tax as soon as the W-2’s came in the mail and have our taxes finished in less than 30 minutes.
Now that we are both self employed, things have changed.  Being self employed means we no longer have the luxury of W-2 forms. I no who thinks of tax forms as luxury?  However I can honestly say going from the once a year task of entering a few numbers into a space to the now daily task of tracking our income, expenses, and potential write offs, makes me realize how easy things were.
Being self employed also means no employee health benefits.  With 3 kids, one with autism and another with severe asthma, plus having chronic health issues myself, going without health insurance doesn’t seem like a smart or cost effective option for us.  Plus now that the Affordable Care Act is in place, the penalty for not having insurance goes beyond excessive doctor bills and hits you with a penalty at tax time.
Luckily we were able to find a great health plan that was affordable, this really allowed us both to pursue our dreams without one of us having to maintain a job that provided insurance.
It is currently open enrollment time, if you are looking for health insurance.
We file our taxes every year with Turbo Tax, and have since the year I started filing my taxes my self.  I love how they make everything an easy and streamlined process, whether I have a simple W-2 or own my own business.  They ask the questions and I click on the answers and provide my end of the year calculations.  Reporting health insurance for the year is no different, for nearly 80% of taxpayers it is as simple as clicking a box while filing with Turbo Tax.
Taxpayers who have insurance through an employer, government program, such as Medicare or Medicaid, or other private insurance will receive a 1095-B or C form. You do not need these forms to report insurance and file taxes, they are for your records only.
Turbo Tax also offers a lot of tools to help you understand how ACA effects your taxes, find out if you qualify for assistance paying for insurance, and if you qualify for an exemption.  These tools include;
Along with numerous video’s to help you decide what your best option will be when it comes to health care options.

Turbo Tax has always been my go to tax resource.  When I was 18 and filing my own taxes for the first time, and now as a busy working mom who wants the peace of mind of knowing her families health care is covered.
