10 Tips to Improve Your Odds of Getting Pregnant! #AstroglideTTC

Astroglide TTC™ sponsored this blog post. The opinions and text are all mine
If you read my post about overcoming infertility, you know my husband and I struggled to conceive our oldest son.  During that year of trying and then subsequently trying again with the twins, I read everything I could get my hands on about trying to conceive.  Here are the top 10 tips that I learned about and I believe really have some merit to them.

1: Know your cycle and monitor your ovulation days.  I assumed I was ovulating mid-cycle like most and after I bought a few ovulation kits and monitored my cycles, I learned my fertile days were different than I thought.
2:  Eat healthy, you want to prepare your body for pregnancy and getting in healthy nutrition will help everything run smoothly.  This includes your monthly cycles.
3: Start taking a prenatal vitamin with Folic Acid.
4:  De-stress!  If your stressed out about getting pregnant, or just about everyday life your body is going to have a hard time doing what it’s supposed too.  Haven’t you heard the story “once I stopped trying it happened”?  It’s because the stress of worrying can screw up our bodies rhythm.
5: Get to a healthy weight.  I lost about 10 pounds right before I got pregnant with Anthony and was at an optimal weight when I conceived the twins.  If your under or over weight it can effect your ovulation.
6: Take a walk everyday.  Its great low impact exercise plus a nice walk can help you destress.
7. Take some me time.  Once you conceive, everything for will revolve around that little bundle of joy for the rest of you life.  So take some time now to enjoy you.
8. Have sex at the right time.  When monitoring your ovulation, try to get a test that will alert you before you ovulate.  This way you can begin having sex on the days leading up to ovulation.  Sperm can live for 3 to 5 days but your egg is around for less than 24 hours.

9.  Lay down after sex.  I read this everywhere when I was trying to conceive.  My doctor told me it didn’t matter, however in theory it kind of makes sense, right?  I did it.
10.  Set the perfect stage for the sperm.  If your to dry down there its not good for the sperm.  However you need to be-careful which lubricant you choose.  Most lubricants can hinder the sperms movement or even kill it.  Astroglide TTC is the perfect choice, it is water based, sperm friendly and pH adjusted!
Trying to conceive can be the biggest emotional roller coaster you’ll ride on, so above all just try to relax.

The Father He Didn’t Have to Be, The Anchor in My Life! #NauticaforDad

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.  #NauticaforDad #CollectiveBias
As Father’s Day approaches I want to share the story about my Dad.  I don’t talk about it often because it’s not really necessary to talk about it but for Father’s Day I thought it would be nice to share.  My Dad is the Father he never needed to be!

I met my Dad before my first birthday,  when my mom started dating him and later married.  I always new my birth father and even lived with him for a period of time while I was a teenager, however my Dad has always been my Dad.
This man walked into my life and took on all the responsibility that another man couldn’t handle.  He was the one who made the rules, went to father/daughter dances, fixed my car, and walked me down the isle.  He taught me how to ride a bike, how to be responsible, and the unfaltering love of father.  He also showed me that love and loyalty are what makes a family, not blood and as a result I have countless friends who have become family over the years and I am one of the most loyal people you’ll ever meet.

He has been an anchor in my life for day one, there is no conditions upon the love he has shown me.  I am his daughter, unconditionally.

Now 31 years later, he is an anchor in my kids life.  He is the papa who plays baseball, builds bounce houses, and plays with Lego’s.  He is a man my boys can look up to and a man my daughter can rely on.  They love him with all their hearts and he loves them right back!

So what am I buying the anchor in my life for Father’s Day?  The Nautica Voyage Gift Set!  It’s a great gift set that has a cool, aquatic and masculine scent.  The set includes a shower gel, aftershave balm, and 2 bottles of cologne.  I love the smell of Nautica Voyage and I also love the price of this deluxe gift set, It is a $128 value available at Macy’s for only $65!

The set also comes in a great gift box, making wrapping very easy.

I can’t wait to relax by the pool on Father’s Day, BBQ, and celebrate with the two best Dad’s I know.  My Dad and my Husband!

I’ve shared some memories about my father. Who is the anchor in your life?

Get ready for Cold and Flu Season with a Sick Basket! #ReliefIsHere

*This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/P&G, All opinions are 100% my own*
Cold and Flu Season is upon us and the worst feeling is waking up sick and realizing you don’t have any medicine and supplies on hand!
A mom friend of mine once told me about her “Sick Basket” and we have created one in our house every year sense!  It’s a basket or bin that you fill with all the supplies you will need when someone inevitably gets sick.  We tuck it away in the linen closet and then pull it out when we need it, this is the best feeling when that icky feeling strikes in the middle of the night!

I’m sure every family has their own list of favorite things that make a bad cold or even worse, the flu, more bearable.
Everything in my basket is conveniently available at Walmart, so it is easy and affordable to restock as needed.
In my Sick Basket I keep:
1) Hard Candy, for sore or dry throats.  I like caramel candies because they remind me of my Nana but many people prefer cough drops.
2) Tea, I love curling up with a hot and steamy cup of sleepy time tea when I’m under the weather.
3) Movies, My iPad aka Netflix is a saving grace when some one is sick.  The kids can watch their movies or I can catch up on all the TV shows I only get to watch when I’m sick.
4) Lysol and Paper Towels, with a house hold of 5 the germs get passed along quickly.  I like to spray down remotes, door knobs and everything else that we touch often.
5) Chap Stick, for when your lips get extra dry and under your nose get red and sore from too much wiping.
6) Tissues are a must.
7) Antibacterial Hand Wipes also help clean up hands and small things quickly while also disinfecting them.
8) A Thermometer is also an important thing to have quickly assessable.  Before keeping our in our sick basket, I used to loose thermometers all over the house which made for crazy middle of the night searches too often.
9) A Water Bottle with a cover is also great for those days your couch ridden.  I like to put a tablespoon of Honey, Lemon Juice, and a Table Spoon of warm Coconut Oil in my water when I’m sick for a little immune booster.
10)  Dog Walking Bags (or diaper trash bags) for stomach aches.  These make for cheap, easy, and disposable barf bags!
11) Medicine!  The best way to feel better faster is with a good quality cold and flu medication to relieve those miserable symptoms.  Vicks is a trusted brand in our home and when the hubby or I are sick we like to use DayQuil and Nyquil for relief.
Maximum symptom-fighting ingredients to relieve your worst cold and flu symptoms.
Maximum strength nighttime cold and flu relief, so you can take back your night.
The powerful NyQuil relief you trust now with a decongestant.
Available in caplets or liquid.
Temporarily relieves common cold/flu symptoms including:
Nasal congestion
Sinus congestion and pressure
Cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation
Cough to help you sleep
Minor aches and pains
Sore throat
Runny nose and sneezing
Reduces swelling of nasal passages
Temporarily restores freer breathing through the nose
Promotes nasal and/or sinus drainage
Maximum symptom-fighting ingredients to relieve your worst cold and flu symptoms.
Maximum strength nondrowsy cold and flu relief so you can tackle your to-do list.
Available in caplets or liquid.
Temporarily relieves common cold/flu symptoms:
Nasal congestion
Sinus congestion and pressure
Cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation
Minor aches and pains
Sore throat
Reduces swelling of nasal passages
Temporarily restores freer breathing through the nose
Promotes nasal and/or sinus drainage
Helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and make coughs more productive
As a Mommy, my job doesn’t get put on hold when I get sick so staying on top of my cold or flu symptoms with DayQuil and NyQuil keeps my household functioning and my kids happy even when I’m not feeling a hundred percent!

God gained and Angel and Broke our Hearts!

“God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best!”

I haven’t been able to bring myself to write any posts for a few weeks and I wanted to let my following readers know why.   My family lost an amazing, smart, loving little soul in the beginning of June.  My baby cousin and Lilly’s bestie was taken from his loving mommy and daddy and made into one of God’s perfect angels.
I cant understand why, I cant rationalize this in any way, it feels like a nightmare as the memories run through my head.  This little boy was surrounded by so much love!  His mommy is the best mother I know, every breath she took was consumed with love for her baby boy.
He was smart beyond his years and loved everyone, so I have to believe that God needed him for a mighty job up in Heaven.  However even knowing my precious baby cousin is in God’s kingdom does not heal our broken and bleeding hearts.
We love you baby boy and we will see you again one day when you meet us up in the sky!

Lilly Got Her Ears Pierced and Had Some Accessories Fun at Claire’s in Saugus

Lilly has been infatuated with accessories lately, every morning she has a pile of things she wants to put on from jewelry to belts to pocketbooks.  She had her ears pierced as a baby but the holes had closed up over the years because the earrings were constantly falling out, but once she started school she began asking for earrings again.

Last weekend we decided to pop into the Square One Mall in Saugus to look for some living room furniture and let the kids walk off some energy.  Well of coarse Lilly spotted the accessory store from a mile away and took off running.  My first instinct was to grab her and run, knowing Aidan could cause craziness in a small store full of little sparkly things.  However as I turned my head I saw the ear piercing station and decided to let Lilly have some girly fun while Grammy took the boys upstairs to train ride.
She sat up on the chair like the little woman she thinks she is and was very excited!
The two girls working at Clair’s were awesome and very friendly, giving her a pretty teddy to hold onto.  They also did the piercing simultaneously on the two ears so I didn’t have to worry about a screaming one ear pierced child.
I was shocked all I herd was a tiny ouch and a scrunched face, and then she was all smiles with her pretty new earrings
It cost about $55 for the piercing with the little gold flower earrings and a big bottle of ear care solution.  I think the price has gone up quite a bit over the years.  I remember getting my double holes for under $25 but either way I think it was still a very reasonable price especially considering the sales associates made it a good experience for Lilly.
Then just as I was about to round up our stuff to head out, they told me everything in the store is half off with a piercing!  So we stocked up on some fun accessories.  Lilly got 2 pairs of glasses, a diary, lip gloss and nail polish kit, Rapunzel braid hair clip, and pretty pocketbook for around $30.
Lilly was ecstatic, and is still showing everyone her new earring and toting around all her accessories in her cute princess pocketbook.
Having a little girly-girl is so much fun! especially in a store that wall to wall, top to bottom full of sparkly fun girly things!

Marriott Grande Vista Resort , Orlando Florida ~ Our Disney Vacation

We returned home from a last minute Disney trip this week.  My parents had an extra week available to exchange on their timeshare so I was able to convince the Hubby to take the trip down to Orlando.  This was the second time we stayed at the Marriott Grande Vista Resort in Orlando.  It’s across the street from Sea World, a 15 minute drive to all the Disney attractions and Universal, and less than 5 minutes away from restaurants and shopping.

We first stayed at the Marriott Grande Vista Resort back in August of 2012 when we did our first big Disney trip along with my parents, brother, and sister in-law.  Back then we stayed in a 3 bedroom lock-off villa, this time in 2014 we got the 2 bedroom lock-off villa because my father wasn’t able to come down and the rest of the family only stayed with us a few nights.
I am a huge fan of this resort!  They offer so much, on the days we wanted to just relax and recover from all our Disney fun, this resort is perfect.  The kids can never get bored, they offer daily activities for them.  Such as arts and crafts, games, and different events like having Gatorland visit the resort.  They also have fun kid friendly pools, a rec room, boat rentals, a candy/ice cream shop and fishing rod rentals.  If its raining there’s a game room and the maze room which is a tube area for the kids to run off some energy.  They also offer kids drop-off nights and a kids field trip day to Gatorland for a fee, so parents have a chance to sit back and relax.
The Marriott Grande Vista also has a store and several restaurants on site.  Weather you want a sit down meal, a quick bite to eat by the pool, or pizza back in your room, this resorts got you covered!
The store sells prepackaged S’more kits for the fire pits that are set on a beach area by the pond
We didn’t make it to a fire night yet, because there is so much to do in Orlando.  However the kids loved building sandcastles on the beach!
If your looking for an adult friendly night, that’s also covered.  With poolside bars, relaxing hot tubs, and an onsite spa and fitness center!

The landscaping is beautiful and the resort is set on a golf course.  The kids woke up every morning and watched the golfers from the back patios.
The staff was also excellent, my mother kept shutting the lock off suite door by accident along with her room key and security always came fast with a smile on there face to unlock the door.
I also love having a full kitchen in our villa, we saved a lot of money being able to make breakfast most mornings, and barbequing a couple nights.  Our villa also had a washer/dryer and Jacuzzi tub.
I understand why many people choose to stay in a Disney resort, however if you are looking to experience all the other attractions Orlando has to offer, or you want to spend days away from all the coming a going of the theme parks then this resort is an awesome alternative.

American Girl Doll Hospital Saved the Day!

Lets face it, everyone knows how incredibly expensive American Girl Dolls can be.  However they are also adorable and a fun experience to share with a little girl.  The meals, the hair salon, the matching outfits, its a fun activity.
Lilly is very blessed and has received a Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins Starter Collection as gifts through out the years.
However a puppy, a three year old, and a $80 doll don’t mix well together.  Lilly innocently left her Bitty Baby sleeping on the couch before she fell asleep herself, mommy didn’t notice while busy doing laundry, and an hour later we had a sad little girl, an angry mommy, and a crated dog, because Lilly’s prized American Girl baby was chewed up all over the floor.
I thought about sewing it but it was missing a chunk of the torso, so as I perused the stores website trying to see how much it would cost to replace this doll, I came across the American Doll Hospital!  I was so relieved and excited,  I had never heard of this service before but its the perfect solution for any mishap your expensive little doll runs into!
They can replace limbs, torso, heads, and hair.  They can also remove them, and add hearing aids, glasses, and so much more.

The process is simple.  There is a order form on the Hospital’s webpage, you print it out and fill in what you need fixed on your American Girl Doll.  Then you put it in a box without any clothes or accessories on, place postage on it and send it out with the mail man.
A few weeks later you get your precious American Girl doll back looking good as new.

They cleaned up and polished her head, put a Hospital Gown and Cap on her, and sent her home with a Good Health Certificate from the Doctor.

So for under $30, Lilly’s baby was back and in perfect health!
She was so Excited!

Merry Christmas 2013!

Merry Christmas to All!  I cant believe the season is coming to an end.  We had a ton of fun, however with the shorter time between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year , it definitely felt like everything was a bit rushed.  We didn’t get to do as much as usual but we still stayed very busy and the kids had a blast.
We saw Santa!
Decorated the House!
Had our annual Family Christmas Party with my Mom’s side of the Family.  As all the cousins are getting married and having babies, it wont be long before we can no longer fit on the couch for a “cousins pic”!

The kids got their Pictures taken at The Picture People!

We baked Cookies for Santa and Cupcakes for Jesus’s Birthday!

My brother came home for a weekend, so we took a family trip out to see the Enchanted Village at Jordan’s Furniture!

We spent Christmas Eve relaxing at my parents house, playing board games with the kids, eating Chinese food, and exchanging gifts!

And THEN…. Santa CAME!!!
I love Christmas morning!  I always go a bit over board, but there is only a short period of time when my little ones will be little and I love the look in there eyes when they come down the stairs and see the presents flowing from under the Christmas tree and knowing they are believing in the magic of Santa.
We spent the rest of the day with my parents eating, building, playing, and just relaxing.
I’m sad the Season is coming to an end, but am thankful for every minute of it!

LEGO® KidsFest New England 2013

If you have a LEGO® lover in your family then the LEGO® KidsFest is a must see!
Anthony and Aidan are obsessed with Building LEGO® Sets.  Anthony’s favorite is Ninjago, and Aidan cant get enough of the super hero line.  However after playing with all the different sets at LEGO® KidsFest last night, I think the Legends of Chima line has become a new favorite for both boys.
LEGO® KidsFest New England is at the Conneticut Convention Center in Hartford this weekend.
There is so much to see and do at this event, I was shocked.
We started off at the Master Builder Academy where a LEGO® Master Builder gave all the kids tips on how to improve their building skills.  Then everyone moved over to tables filled with LEGO® bricks to put our new skills to use.
After we finished the Master Builder Academy we moved down to the LEGO® Technic area.  This is a LEGO® line that I had never heard of before, but it is amazing!  The boys where able to race trucks, battle trains, and see a huge crain set up.

Next was onto the HERO Factory to build some Hero’s and Villains!

After putting our Hero’s and Villains in Makuhero City we decided to take a look at all the amazing LEGO® Models in the LEGO® Model Museum.  The boys thought this was incredible.  The Models where huge and looked perfect.
We saw Lightening Mcqueen, The Hulk, Sponge Bob, Batman, a Shark, and so much more!

All this fun tired us out so we took a break in the KidsFest Theatre

After a little break, we stopped to see Santa, checked out the Duplo area, and then headed over to one of the boys favorite areas, Legends of Chima.

The kids got a Free Speedor pack for playing, which they were very excited about.
We continued on our way next to Challenge Zone where we completed a challenge to build a baseball themed item, we also got a fun harry potter lego set to take home.  Lastly we played over in Anthony’s Favorite LEGO® Line’s Area NINJAGO!  Where we practiced our spinjitzu moves.

Before we left for the night, we had to stop at the LEGO® Market Place.  We bought the boys each a LEGO® Set to take home, because we were all in a major Lego® Loving mood.
Anthony picked the Ninjago Samurai Mech Set

Aidan picked the Spongebob Bikini Bottom Under Sea Party Set

This was a great event, the boys had so much fun and so did we.
If you want to see when LEGO® KidsFest will be in your area, Check out the 2014 schedule here.

Disclaimer: I received Free Admission Tickets to this event in exchange for this post.  However all Opinions are 100% my own.
