Spring Cleaning Tips For Cleaning The Bathroom

If you are thinking of tackling your home, and getting some spring cleaning done, let me share some tips to get your bathroom looking and smelling fresh!  Spring cleaning is a great way to de-clutter from the year! Get rid of clothes you no longer wear, organize your closets, clean out your medicine cabinets and more.

Today I have partnered with ScriptSave® WellRx to want to focus on cleaning your bathroom top to bottom and saving money when you restock that medicine cabinet! This will leave your bathroom looking fresh and clean and get you set for a whole new year! The bathroom can be one of the dirtiest places in the whole house, so it should be a room you really clean well!

Tackling the Bathroom for Spring Cleaning

Cabinets: Make sure to start with your cabinets. Take out all the items, dust the shelves, and organize your products and such. Great time to check to see if any beauty products are expired and need to be tossed, wash any bedding or towels that haven’t been used in a while.

Medicine Cabinet: If you have a medicine cabinet, make sure to take time to look over all your medicines for any that are outdated and expired. Wipe down your shelves and put your medicines back in the cupboard.

  • Tips to Save on Prescriptions: If you are looking for more affordable prescriptions consider using ScriptSave® WellRx, it is a free card/app that you can access online or download on your smartphone for free. It requires no credit card, and there are no membership fees. You can find the best prices on prescriptions in your area when you use theScriptSave WellRx website or app on your smartphone. It has an expedia-like lookup tool that makes finding the best price on the prescription you need, simple! It will show all your local pharmacies on one screen! You can save up to 80% off on prescriptions, but on average you can save around 44%. This is a great app or site to use because prescriptions can really add up, so getting great savings is worth trying!
  • If you are like some, insurance doesn’t mean low-cost prescriptions. But with the ScriptSave WellRx program, you can get help tocut down the cost on your prescriptions!

Scriptsave5

  • Now know, that prescription prices do change daily, and that is why sometimes your medicine might be $35 and other times it is $22. With the ScriptSave WellRx pricing tool, you use it each time you are ready for a prescription and they will help find the best pharmacy to refill.

As many of you know, Aidan has autism spectrum disorder.  There was a point in time when my husband and I had to make the decision to try medication for his hyperactivity and lack of sleep.  We went through several medications untill we found the one that lasted through the school day without causing him any side effects.  The problem was this medication cost over $350!  This was the first medication I searched for with Script Save WellRX, and I can refill it at the same pharmacy we are using for under $200.  That’s a huge savings!
However, that’s not the only prescription we’re saving on.  Between Lilly’s asthma, my husband’s cholesterol problems, and my chronic pain and arthritis, my family fills over ten prescriptions a month, some months it is over 20 prescriptions.  I have searched the prescriptions I will be filling at the end of the month and I can potentially save over $300.  ScriptSave WellRX is going to make my family’s medication costs a lot more manageable, and I am incredibly thankful for that!

Shower: Next you want to move on to spraying down your shower and working on wiping it all down. If you have some soap scum buildup let it sit while you work on the rest of your bathroom.

Counters and Mirrors: Wipe down any counters and mirrors, getting it all nice and clean. I like to make sure my counters are nice and decluttered, maybe add some flowers to freshen it up.

Toilet: Next tackle your toilet, make sure to clean the inside and around the base of the outside. If you have to let it sit for a little bit to work inside the toilet to get rid of any rings.

Floors: Lastly you will want to sweep and mop the flooring. Then you are fully finished with the bathroom!

How My Family Prepares for the Cold and Flu Season!

This post is written by me on behalf of Geometry Global. All opinions are entirely my own. This shop has been compensated by Acorn Influence, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

ways-to-prepare-your-family-for-cold-and-flu-season

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve likely followed along as Lilly’s asthma acts up with each season change.  If not, let me say we have been on a roller coaster of colds, coughing fits, and hospital stays over the last few years.  I must be extremely careful to the point of obsession when it comes to cold germs or even worse the flu around her.  What would normally be a few days to a week of feeling yucky and run down for the average person, can quickly turn into pneumonia, low oxygen levels, constant nebulizer treatments, and days in the hospital for Lilly.

I know Lilly’s case is extreme, but all kids are miserable when they get sick.  Plus, once Lilly catches a cold it can quickly go through the entire house.  The boys will catch it from playing together or sharing a cup, then Aidan will want to do nothing but snuggle on the couch for the entire day.  This will lead to my husband and I catching the nasty virus and in the end, even without hospital trips we are left dragging ourselves out of piles of laundry, makeup work from school, and an endless to-do list.

We all know how draining cold season can be once it strikes so I try to prepare for it as much as possible in an effort to prevent the virus from taking over my house.

What we do to keep the cold virus away:

Wash hands:  this seems like a no brainer, but with kids they sometimes need reminders.  Luckily, Lilly is a hand washing pro from watching an episode about it one “The Magic School Bus” and she constantly tells the boys what they are doing wrong.

Keep surfaces, switches, door knobs, and other high traffic areas disinfected.  During my daily cleaning I use an antibacterial wipe and quickly wipe down all the little spots that can easily be hotbeds for germs.

Stay healthy, I try my hardest to keep everyone active, hydrated, and nourished from a healthy diet so that their immunity is higher and their bodies have all the nutrients they need to fight off any virus’s that they come in contact with.
Cold-season-supplies-Kleenex Anti-Viral
I always stock up on cold season supplies, I make sure our thermometer has batteries and is working.  The same thing goes for our humidifier and oximeter.  Most importantly I stock up on Kleenex!
I don’t want everyone sneezing and coughing into their hands and then spreading those germs everywhere they touch, and as parents, we know how gross it is to turn a shirt right side out while doing laundry to find that a little someone has wiped a day’s worth of snot on their sleeves.  So, Kleenex are a must, but I don’t trust just any tissue to help keep the cold virus from spreading.  We use Kleenex Anti-Viral tissues because they kill 99.9% of cold and flu viruses.  How amazing is that?  The active ingredients in the middle layer disrupt the viruses’ protective coating and kills the virus in the tissue within 15 minutes.
Kleenex Anti-Viral-middle-texture
Help prevent the virus’s from spreading at school too.  As much as I wipe surfaces and keep my kids hands clean at home, the cold virus still likes to circulate at school.  So, be your child’s teacher’s cold season hero and send a 4 pack of Kleenex Anti-Viral Facial Tissues that are available at Walmart, to school for your child’s classroom.

Kleenex Anti-Viral-school-stock-up
Plus, each box comes with Box-Tops, which schools always appreciate.
Kleenex Anti-Viral-tissues-box-tops
I try my hardest not to let the cold virus sneak up on my family and Kleenex Anti-Viral is making it easier this season.
So, for now I am waiting for cold season to be over dreaming of the fresh summer air.

How do you prepare for cold season in your family?

Disclaimer: *In the tissue in 15 minutes.  Virucidal against: Rhinoviruses Type 1A and 2 (Rhinoviruses are the leading cause of the common cold); Influenza A and Influenza B (causes of the flu); Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV – the leading cause of lower respiratory infection in children).

As moms most of us shop at Walmart, a lot!  I have a Super Center within walking distance from my house, so I am usually there several times a week.  I know where everything is and what isles to run down to get exactly what I need.  On a usual trip I try to stick to the grocery and household section, but I still always end up strolling through the seasonal and stationary isles with extra goodies in my cart.  However, I rarely make a sporadic trip towards the back of the store where the toys and electronics area.  The toy section I avoid at all cost, unless it is a holiday, and the electronics department could easily have me drooling over all the tech goodies I want.

So, now that tax season is here and I have a little extra cash on hand, it is a great time to take care of my family’s tech needs.  With a family of 5, that extra wiggle room in our budget must go far though.  Luckily Samsung at Walmart has amazing deals on all the popular gadgets my families been wishing for.

The 5 Best Long Distance Moving Tips for Families!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CORT. All opinions are 100% mine.

As many of you know we recently made a huge move from Boston to Tampa!  With three young children that was no small feat.  I had seen friends and family move long distances prior to our move and used to think “what a fun adventure” never really comprehending how much work goes into a long distance move, especially with little family members.

I was able to start the planning and packing months in advance which was our biggest saving grace, I cant imagine moving on a small time crunch.  I was also able to employ the help of family and friends with packing and with keeping the kids entertained.  However, we still made mistakes and as first time long distance movers we did somethings that cost us more money and cost us time, but we learned some great lessons and are so excited we made the move.

After all the hard work and fun excitement, we learned some great lessons and are super excited about our new life in Florida.  Here are my top tips for long distance move as a family.

Top Tips for a Smooth Long Distance Move as a Family

1. You will want to pick up all of your doctor’s records ahead of time this is especially crucial if you have special needs children or are facing your own health issues.  I currently have my own disabilities that comprise of five specialists along with my primary care doctor.  My children have a neurologist, optometrists and their pediatrician.  We also have a full medicine cabinet of prescriptions and in order to be able to seamlessly find a doctor and continue with the care that has been working, having our medical records in hand makes our transition much faster.  Otherwise I would likely get down to Florida and have to have my records forwarded to my new doctor’s office which can take up to a month.  I am being type A and would rather have them in my possession to hand to doctors immediately, especially knowing that I will need new prescriptions after taking the long road trip down there.

2. Get your kids school records, my kids all have IEP’s and I worked very hard over the last two years to get all of my children’s needs met within our current school system and because the new school system will have to follow the children’s agreed-upon IEP from Massachusetts until we can come to a new agreement, I want to make sure I have all formal documentation of the IEP agreement in the school records.  This also goes with medical records; I may not be able to get into a pediatric neurologist immediately so having documentation of the disability when fighting for new IEP services is imperative.

3. Start cleaning out and stocking up early.  you’re going to need tons of boxes and you’re going to be getting rid of everything that is not a needed unless you want to spend a fortune on movers or drive two trucks, and we’re trying to do it the cheapest way.  After pricing shipping containers and truck rentals we decided I will drive the kids in the van and my husband will drive the moving truck and pull his car on the back this will limit us to 24-foot truck space with two adults and three children we currently have a three-bedroom duplex plus a basement full of stuff.  I have been spending the last 3 to 4 months slowly getting rid of stuff.  I have sold the kids old clothes, shoes and winter supplies on apps such as Poshmark.  I have consigned the kids toys at local consignment shop and I have donated countless boxes of canned goods, extra shoes, clothes and household appliances because if it’s going to cost more to bring it to Florida than it is to buy it in Florida it doesn’t make sense to me.

4. Create a moving binder to keep all your documentation in is also a great way to stay organized.  I know the kids will be home all day for the next month which means I was not fully unpacked until September, after an August 1st move, because no one wants to spend all summer unpacking. Having my medical records, school papers, birth certificates, and insurance info in a moving binder that I keep in my “priority moving box” makes losing documents or having to dig through boxes less likely to happen.

5. Consider getting rid of your old furniture and renting some new pieces with CORT Furniture Rental.  Moving can be stressful and getting all of your furniture from one state to another is expensive.  Starting off fresh with less stuff to pack and unpack will cut your stress in half.  CORT Furniture allows you to rent furniture whether you want a single piece of furniture, a whole room, or an entire house full, for as short or as long as you need.  Think of arriving at your new location without the stress of a huge moving truck full of furniture to unpack.  Best of all this allows you to focus on making this big transition a fun adventure for everyone.

This post was sponsored.  All opinions are my own.
Are you planning a move?  We are!  We announced to our family last week that we are are moving down to the Tampa area of Florida!
For the past 5 years or so, my husband and I have debated between moving to South Carolina or Florida, and a couple years ago we took a road trip up and down the east coast and all around Florida, trying to decide on where we wanted to transplant to.  We ended up staying in Massachusetts because I chickened out at the idea of being away from all my family while the kids were so young.  However they have gotten older, and easier, so the move was back on the table.  Then my parents made the sudden decision 6 months ago to make their Florida home, their permanent home.  Suddenly the idea of moving became easier.  My father is home during the day and my mother is working from home so they were able to find us an apartment to transition into and they had already gotten to know the area towns and local establishments.
Plus my brother is only 5 to 6 hours away from Florida in South Carolina, and visits the Tampa area every couple months.  We had been taking a long road trip to South Carolina twice a year over the last few years, so being closer to him is a huge perk.

Taking Back My Schedule and Control of My Health with Amwell! + Coupon Code!

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Amwell.
How much time do you waste sitting in a waiting room? As a busy mom, I often put off scheduling any appointments for myself until I end up hitting a wall and needing to see a doctor with a lengthy list of reasons my body is falling apart. I have my days packed as it is and trying to find time to stop working, find a babysitter, drive to an appointment, and then sit in a waiting room for sometimes up to an hour, gives me anxiety.

However I also know I need to stay on top of my health, I struggle with numerous chronic conditions that when left untreated can land me in bed for days.
This leaves me feeling like I’m balancing a tight rope between taking time off for appointments or time off to recover from my conditions.
This is why Amwell is so important to me. Amwell is the nations largest telehealth company which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on desktop and mobile devices.
I am able to see a board certified, licensed doctor, nutritionist or psychologist from the comfort of my home. No babysitter, no drive to the doctors office, no waiting rooms!
Besides the convenience of seeing a doctor from home, I also love how you can pull up your health record whenever you want.
I will simply print out any information I want to bring with me to my next pcp appointment.
Medical Services:
Amwell’s licensed providers can take care of minor illnesses and injury, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management.
Plus you can send the health info stored on many devices straight to the doctor, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and more.
Diet and Nutrition
The Diet and Nutrition area of Amwell allows you to connect directly to a registered dietitian who is experienced in sports nutrition. This service can help you with anything from enhancing your performance goals to weight loss.
Therapy:

Amwell therapists are another great feature being offered. They have dozens of psychologists and counselors that have been trained in telehealth.
This is a service I know so many people can benefit from, even for those mommy melt down moments when you just need to talk to talk to someone, who isn’t involved in your day to day life. Having a counselor available online, is incredible.

This is definitely a service that changes the way I view healthcare and allows me to take back control of my schedule!

Amwell is a great health care option to try, and I have a coupon code to help make that easier.
Coupon Code: AMWELLHEALTH

How I am Staying Prepared this Winter While Cutting My Bills!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of SnowCast for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever been blind sided by a snow storm?  I was last week, and it wasn’t fun!
We have decided to go without cable until our move over the summer in an attempt to slim down our bills and avoid getting locked into a 12 month commitment which would result in a hefty cancellation fee when we move out of state.

Over the last month this decision seemed to transition smoothly, with all the great subscription services to choose from we easily cut our bill by over 75%.  However I didn’t think about the weather report while making this change.  I’m a New Englander, I am used to crazy weather.  I can wake up with the heat pumping, switch it over to air conditioning before my coffee is finished and switch it back and forth more times than I can count during the course of a day.  Unfortunately the beginning of this winter had me spoiled.  After last years winter filled with what seemed to be a blizzard every week, I somehow thought we were squeaking by this winter without being snowed in.  It is only February but the 70 degree temperatures left me thinking spring was right around the corner and I had pulled all the kids snow gear out for nothing this year.  Well the joke was on me, because last Thursday night I got a phone call saying schools would be canceled Friday because of the impending storm.  WHAT?  Friday was my planned grocery shopping day, Lilly still needed boots, and I was home alone with 3 kids at 8 o’clock at night!
Now I’m not the crazy person standing in line at the store with bottled water and bread after the thought of a few inches of snow, but being stuck in the house for a couple days with 3 kids and no snacks or hot chocolate sent me into a mini panic attack.  I ended up dragging three kids out to the store, which I always avoid at all costs, and grabbed what we needed to get everyone excited about the snow.

Luckily while stuck in the house during our unplanned snow day, I learned about the SnowCast app.  The SnowCast app is a great app that I quickly downloaded onto my iPhone, it instantly calculated my location, and now is able to tell me when it will snow and how much we will be getting.  I can easily pull up the app and see not only if we will be getting snow, but also how much and when it will start up to 48 hours in advance.  Plus it sends me alerts for NOAA winter weather warnings and advisories, so I will never be blindsided by the lovely New England weather again.
Which was put to the test when mother nature decided to give us a pre winter vacation 4 day weekend, with a second snowstorm on Monday.  Thankfully I knew about the storm as we were digging out from Friday’s storm and was able to run back out for cereal and movies on Sunday while the kids built snowmen with Daddy.

This IOS app cost $2.99 in the app store and the fact that it will save me from unexpectedly having to drag three tired kids shopping the night before a storm again, makes it worth every penny!
