It’s getting colder outside and that means us mommies need to come up with some fun ways to keep the kids busy and happy inside. For us, one of the funnest ways to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon is by grabbing a bunch of blankets and pillows and building a fun Sofa Fort in the livingroom.
The kids will spend hours imagining their fort is a house, ship, or tent. Then once they are done playing, we usually end up reading stories, making flashlight puppets, and having snacks inside the fort.
When Wayfair contacted us about creating a sofa fort with one of their lush throw blankets, I jumped at the opportunity to have an excuse to pull the cushions off the sofa again and have some fun and I also was excited to see the cool sofa fort ideas Wayfair had.
The kids were excited to make “The Dreadship Blanket” fort probably because it gave them a reason to scream Argggg all day without me telling them to be quiet.
This was a pretty easy sofa fort to create. All you need is 2 chairs in front of the sofa to use as cannons and a broom to hang a throw blanket from as a sail.
We added our coffee table cubes in between the couch and chairs because the kids loved standing on them, pretending they were at sea and they were up on the crows nest keeping look out.
The things that the kids imaginations come up with while pulling off some sofa cushions is a great thing to watch as a mommy.
What are you doing this weekend before the hustle and bustle of the holidays start? Why not pull apart your sofa and get creative!
