Daylight Savings Time Sleep Tips with Pampers + Giveaway!

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Daylight Savings Time is quickly approaching and for many moms that equals anxiety about getting little ones adjusted quickly to the sleep change.  I was lucky, that all three of my children slept great as babies.  Going home from the hospital they would sleep for 4-5 hours, wake up and eat, then head back to sleep for another 4-5 hours.  This meant mommy always got a good 8 hours with only one wake up.

Unfortunately I’m paying for that luck now.  My boys are horrible sleepers.  Anthony at 9 and Aidan at 5, take forever to fall asleep and once they are asleep if anything wakes them up, our entire house is upside down.  Due to their lack of sleep now I have tried everything to help them sleep.

Here are a few tips I suggest to help the time change transition go smoothly:

1) Turn all screens off 2 hours before bedtime, TV’s, iPads, exc.  all prevent the body from releasing the right amount of melatonin, making sleep harder.

2) Dim lights and hour before bed and turn off all unnecessary lights.  An hour before my children’s bedtime, my house is 90% dark with the exception of a dim light in the kitchen and family room.  This also helps melatonin production.

3) Stick to your bedtime routine. For us its bath time, snack, stories and prayers, then in bed.  Our bedtime routine starts at 7:00 p.m. every night and the kids are in their beds by 8:00.  It’s so important to stick to a routine once you figure out a routine that will work for your family.

4)  Wake the kiddos up at the same time everyday.  Just as important as a night time routine, a good morning schedule is important to keeping the kids sleep on schedule.  For us the kids have to be up every morning because school, Saturday morning activities, and church on Sunday, all require us to leave the house by 9:00 a.m..  However if we miss a day and sleep in this can easily screw up everyone’s sleep schedule.

5) If your babies are still in diapers, use a good one.  There’s nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night to a soggy baby, because of diaper leaks.  Plus a dry diaper helps babies stay asleep longer.  Unlike other diapers that offer two layers, Pampers diapers have three absorbent layers that provide up to 12 hours of overnight dryness protection. It’s Pampers hope to minimize sleep disruptions so that little ones get the sweet slumber they deserve and need!

6)  With daylight saving coming Saturday night, try to have a fun afternoon planned for Saturday.  I’m trying to think of a great place to take the kids this weekend to run off all their energy in hopes that they will be so tired out by bedtime that we wont have any problems squeezing in that extra hour of sleep this weekend.

PRU BOO 2014 ~ Family Fun in Boston

*Disclosure:  This was a hosted event; all opinions are 100% my own*

We were invited to have lots of fun at PruBoo today and the kids had a blast!
As I posted a couple weeks ago, “The Shops at the Prudential Center” has been been hosting the PruBoo event for 20 years!  It’s a great event that raises money for charity every year.

PruBoo 2014 was packed with fun activities!  There was face painting, balloons, Mary Poppins, and story time at Barnes and Nobles to kick off the festivities.
There were great activities and exhibits throughout the Prudential Center.  The New England Aquarium, the Science Museum, Boston Red Sox, and more had fun tables to check out.  Plus there was a pumpkin decorating area, plenty of photo opps, and Aidan’s favorite a place to draw on real cars!
To top off a fun day we went trick-or-treating!  Living in New England, there is something awesome about trick-or-treating inside without the need of bundling up underneath our Halloween costumes.  The boys couldn’t get enough of trick or treating inside the shopping center!

To finish off a successful family day we had an amazing lunch at California Pizza.  I had never eaten at a California Pizza before, and man was I missing out!  The pizza was phenomenal!

Celebrate Prince Spaghetti Day and National Pasta Month!

I participated in Blog Blast on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Prince Pasta. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
October is National Pasta Month!  Are you enjoying it?  I’m Italian so we eat pasta all the time in my house,  however I forgot that Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti Day!  Did you?  I’m not sure how I forgot about this, after all I am from Boston and when we decided to name our oldest Anthony my Nana used to mimic the legendary “Anthony! Anthony!” commercial daily.

Remembering this has me thinking that I need to start making a mental note to put our pasta dishes on the Wednesday column of our meal planner.  If for nothing more than nostalgia!
Do you have any favorite pasta dishes?  I have some FAVORITES as in “oh my I am eating my weight in this meal, favorites”, Like my Nana’s ravioli recipe, or anything with my aunts sauce on it.  However I also have my favorite staple pasta dishes that my family eats all the time.  Chicken parmesan and a 3 cheese alfredo bake are great weeknight meals that Prince Spaghetti helps me get on the table quickly and easily to keep my growing boys satisfied.
In celebration of National Pasta Month this October, Boston born Prince Pasta, has partnered with Christine and Carla Pallotta, chefs and owners of local Italian eatery, NEBO, to develop creative and easy-to-follow recipes using Prince Pasta.  These recipes are being revealed each Wednesday throughout October.   The recipes include Christine’s Breakfast Pasta, Cavatappi Funghi, Pasta al Forno and Pasta Piselli!  I am so excited to learn these knew recipes, as a mom of three I am all about easy meals that are delicious!
Prince Pasta will be releasing two more Pallotta sister recipes. Be sure to check their Facebook page for more amazing recipes.

I received a sample of Piper’s Perfumery fragrances for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.
I am a fragrance hoarder, I love having a large variety of smells to choose from everyday.
Piper’s Perfumery has me very excited about their new fragrance mist line that they debuted the end of September!  The scents are amazing, the price is a steal at $4.98 each and I can buy them conveniently at Walmart!
So far I have had the opportunity to try three out of seven of  the Piper’s Perfumery fragrances, Sheer Blue, Love Spark, and Naughty & Nice.  They all smelt fabulous, and I love how they mist on and the scent lasts but isn’t overwhelming.  My favorite so far is Love Spark, I have been wearing that almost everyday.  It’s a fun and flirty smell that makes me feel very girly.

Naughty & Nice: Top notes of Sweet Mandarin and Cyclamen lead into mid tones of Sensual Jasmine, White Cedar and Sugared Amber Crystals, ending with dry notes of Creamy Sandalwood, Warm Vanilla Bean and Musk.

Sheer Blue: Top notes of Crisp Apple, Bright Bergamot and Lemon Zest lead into mid tones of Bluebell, Sheer Jasmine and delicate Rose, ending with dry notes of White Amber, Blonde Woods and Musk.
Piper’s Perfumery also released 4 other fragrances that I cant wait to try!
Eye Candy: Top notes of Sweet Strawberry and Raspberry lead into mid tones of Pink Macaroon, Sugar Cane and Cotton Candy, and end with dry notes of Whipped Vanilla Bean
Sea salt & Rosewater: Top notes of Wild Freesia, Casaba Melon and Apple Blossom, lead into mid tones of Sea Salt Accord and Rosewater Jasmine, and end with dry notes of Driftwood and Musk.
Moroccan Dream: Top notes of Exotic Mango, Pink Grapefruit and Tangerine Sugar lead into mid tones of Tropical Melon, Orange Hibiscus and Juicy Mandarin, and end with dry notes of Sunrise Vanilla, Sensual Woods and Malibu Musk.
